      Look at a Tube map of London to put the locations they will visit during the day into context.
      Study data to show the anticipated benefits of the Elizabeth Line (Crossrail) before it opened.

       

      Introduction

      Meet at Liverpool Street station. Walk to the London Centre at Guildhall. View the 3D New London Model to show the Elizabeth Line route and locations we will visit. Students identify London landmarks on the model. Walk back to the Moorgate entrance to Liverpool Street.

      Sheet 1: Elizabeth Line map

      Fieldwork

      Location 1: Liverpool Street station Students carry out a business survey on Moorfields, within 100m radius of the Moorgate entrance to the station. They find one business owner to interview. They carry out a passenger survey at the station exit and do a passenger count. Travel by Elizabeth Line to Whitechapel.

      Location 2: Whitechapel station Students repeat the same fieldwork activities in and around the station on Whitechapel Road. Lunch in Whitechapel. Travel by Elizabeth line to Custom House.

      Location 3: Custom House station Students again repeat fieldwork activities in and around the station on Freemasons Road. Travel by Elizabeth Line back to Canary Wharf.

      Location 4: Canary Wharf station Students again repeat fieldwork activities in and around the station at West India Dock. Visit roof garden above the station.
